Caught red handed

We're not sure what G had planned for that board book, but he sure does look suspicious...

Just me and my pops

G no longer has to covet the classic corn popper push toy; thanks to his great*gramma he has his very own (much to the cats' dismay). Look at him go!

George really likes the number 82.

We've created a monster!!!

The Babcocks were completely mad about G in his monster costume this Halloween. Meanwhile mom spent some quality time on MST3K's Satellite of Love. The whole gang joined the Jackson Heights Halloween Parade and had a spooky afternoon filled with marching bands, a napping monster, and beakers of prize-winning science fair formulae.

Child Celebrates In Joy For NYC Visit

George is excited to see all his NYC buddies over the last couple of days; he is even more excited that several of them are coming out to eat ice cream with him this afternoon!  Hope to see all and sundry at the Clinton Street Park around 2ish....

Happy g-day!

It's my party and I'll trike if I want to! Grandpa wasn't feeling well, but we still managed to meet up for a quick happy birthday and the unveiling of G's sweet new Radio Flyer trike!!! He took a spin around the McDonald's parking lot and loved every moment.  We're keeping it classy on his first g-day!

G was very pleased with his special g-day treat.  Dad made him fluffy homemade biscuits with a sweet cherry peach sauce. As usual, G was all business when it comes to eating tasty treats.

Thank you for all of the fabulous birthday wishes!  This little guy had a wonderful day.

Male bonding

G's dad — pro parent or happy hooligan?  He's got it all and then some!  Little G can't wait for his top pop to wrap up his work day, here's why...

Missing pants?

We sure miss them...

Auntie "zsa zsa" packs a sweet punch

Auntie Jessica (who little G dubbed "zsa zsa") payed us a visit! We did all kinds of super awesome things including a trip to the Como Zoo (G thought that the fences were really nifty), shopping at the MALL OF AMERICA!!! (this was obviously G's favorite; he pushed boxes around at a shoe store), pointing out all of the old people at the Swedish Institute, and eating o's on the go all over the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. G didn't join the adults for a night out with Jucy Lucy, but he did sneak in a dinner date with zsa zsa.

Later we all went out to Izzy's for G's first taste of the sweet stuff ... it turns out there is life after bananas.

Out of the past.

Have we traveled back in time to the 1980's?  No!  We're just posting a few more photos from our trip to the Minnesota Children's Museum last week.

Science is way cool.

G enjoys the Habitot gallery; mom enjoys the pun.

G is amazed that cattails can be so tall, and so green!

Little drummer boy, at it again.

Child labor

My father thought it was best to introduce me to the world of work at a very tender age.  While his intentions were noble, and certainly helped me become the person I am today, I can't help feeling his prodding resulted in my constant need to remain active.  There are times when I wish I could simply sit back and relax ....

Rugged guy stuff

G shares his play rug with his puppy, Minnehaha (the tickle bird) and dad's hairy legs.

Reminder of Summer

When visiting Maine, I had some idea that George would really like the ocean.  The waves crashed, the water was its warmest at 56 degrees, and birds screamed at us.  It wasn't his favorite part of the trip.  Though, he liked the sand, and a moment later he coveted the man's yellow shovel (behind us).

My Coney Island Baby

Oldie but goodie photos from our trip to Coney Island last June.

G wanted to snack on something from Nathan's but couldn't decide between the Hot Dog Nuggets and the Corndog on a Stick.  Overwhelmed by the dilemma he stuck with an old favorite, the Fried Stroller Harness.

G tries to convince the Cyclone attendant that he is tall enough to be a passenger.  Unfortunately mom wasn't brave enough to join him.

Baby Called Cannibal By Neighbors

Earlier today neighbors phoned their local precinct regarding a cannibal living in the proximity.  Initially considered a hoax, police finally visited the apartment only to confront a horrible scene.

Police found the boy's father unconscious on the floor of the kitchen.  Seargant Floyd O'Connery McDonnell noticed the man was missing both of his index fingers.  When the baby was asked about the index fingers, he only replied, "Doot."

A face only a mother could love.

Baby shows little concern for father's well-being.

Our fair citizens would surely find this miscreant guilty of all associated charges.

Holy crap!

Yesterday G took the prunes and oatmeal test.  Today we got the results.  Let's just say he passed with flying something-or-other...

*note that this is an oldie but goodie photo taken in D.C. this past June.

US-France Summit Starts With Younger Generation

G would like to congratulate B's folks on gettin' hitched.  He might also be up for a round or two of thumb wrestling.

The boys exchange stories of crazy bachelor parties.

not just a walk in the park

Here's an oldie but a goodie (we have a bunch of photos, etc, from missed June/July posts that we'll try to share with you as time permits)

July 2010

George would like to express his thoughts on the Central Park Carousel.  Note that this is his opinion and it looks as if it was not shared by his fellow jockeys (dad and Auntie Alicia).

Reforming the mid-region

Little G shows off his great knowledge of the reformer (the pilates machine that looks eerily like a torture device).

Step 1: adjust the straps for a snug and slightly uncomfortable fit.

Step 2: moisten the buckle.

Step 3: puff your cheeks up and hold your arms out to create the illusion of a very flat core.

Step 4: repeat steps 1-3.

Goodbye big apple, hello miniapple...

We made the big move from NYC to Minneapolis in early August, and we're settling in nicely. The kitties, dad, and grandad survived the 25 hour roadtrip (yes, they drove straight through the night in true Midwestern fashion). Fionn spent most of that time snuggled into great-grandma's chair while Ernie schemed from within the litter box.  Somewhere around Madison, WI (hour 19) Ernie scaled the barrier and appeared, as if from the heavens, in the rearview mirror. He meowed once to voice his opinion of the move and settled into the last few hours of the trip as a passenger seat lap kitty.

G and mom flew in style (well, on an airplane, anyway).  G had a bit of trouble with his ears on the landing and someone a few rows back loudly complained "Stop crying baby, you're making me mad."  Everyone is happy that the Ol'cocks will be staying put for a while.

There's finally a schedule forming that includes the all important blogging hour.  Please don't hold our absence against us; we have tons of super awesome stuff to share with you!

Little G is enjoying his very own room; the cats are upset that they have to share all of the other rooms and don't even get bunk beds, but they're pleased to be back on the third floor.  The best thing is we finally have a proper place to hang the Johnny Jump-up.

Hugs to all and we hope to see you here often!

Red Pants

New swing at playground at Atlantic Ave; same red pants.  G enjoys consistency.

G. Diddy honors Father's Day!

G wanted to celebrate Father's Day by making something very special and personal for dad. He decided to cover a great music video (albeit a raunchy one) that has crept into the daily home routine.  The music video Boats 'N Hoes was by far the best part of the film Step Brothers, and we wouldn't be surprised if G is chanting the song title from that little ditty all on his own in the next couple of months.

G was pimped out for the photo shoot. (Note that we did this at a local playground. I'm wondering what the other mothers/nannies thought of it...)

Here's the money shot:

And some other nice photos from the shoot:

It's hard out here for a pimp.

Big pimpin' up in NYC.

Special thanks to Bopkat Vintage for the excellent props. Note that these creepy little tugboats were meant to be baby bath sponges.  Sweet.

Lovely lady number 1.

Thanks to Martin for this super sweet photo.

Rain sucks.

Thank goodness little G has this great toy and his trusty thumb to pass away the soggy hours.  Thanks Mrs. Hirsch!

B-Dang for Mom!

The boys got together for a photo-op for Mom's birthday.  It looks like G wanted a piece of Fionn's face again ....  Ernie saw something interesting on the floor.  Boys will be boys.

Bootylicious

Bopkat kitty warning system is now installed.  Fionn and Ernie will always know when G is on the move.

Babycooker.

Stovetop catfish... so easy a baby can do it.  G does it all the time when no one is looking.

Step 1. Put cat in one of three positions on stovetop.

position 1

position 2

position 3

Step 2.  Cook

Step 3.  Eat and relax.

Shadow puppet

Little G has discovered shadows and he likes them in a big way.  He's a fan of mom's shadow, but he also has been known to play with (and talk to) the shadow of his own hand when perched on the makeshift changing table in uncle Eric's bedroom.
White wall + excellent backlight = fantastic shadows.

Here's G checking out his swingin' shadow at the near-by playground.

Z is for ZOO!

Not only is the Como Park Zoo in St. Paul free, it totally rocked G's world! Here's a recap of yesterday's adventure...

This kitteh weighs more than Fionn!  G wants a side-by-side comparison to be sure.  Maybe in August...

G giggled at the sea lions and bounced as they swam by.

G and granddad train for the sea lion show.

G waited to see these guys do their happy feet dance or hang-ten.  It never happened, but G is sure that they were up to something...

Looking for more catfish.

Horsing around!  G enjoyed the lights and the mirrors.  It was like a magic show plus horses and an old-timey organ.  We were sad that there wasn't a spaceship hovering above...

G and granddad made up a song about the events of the day (single available on iTunes soon).

Our little happy camper dozed off after a long fun-filled day in his sleep-away tent.
